Unlinked requirement report
« on: March 19, 2012, 10:44:22 pm »
Hi All

I am using EA for my requirements management and design.
I have used the relationship matrix to generate a requirements against realization matrix on my design and I have identified links that have been made.

I am now trying to perform analysis on unlinked requirements and would like EA to tell me of any unlinked reqs.

I have tried to use the gap analysis matrix, but it doesn't seem to do what I want.

I could export the report to a CSV and use exel to do the analysis, but I wondered if you guys have any EA tricks up your sleeves.

Thanks in advance.

Try validating the model. Configure with Project>Model Validation>Configure...
Tick Requirements Management
DGB Using 12.0.1214 / eaDocX 3.6.2.1 / MSSQL / TFS / Windows 7 / IE11

Thanks for the pointer.

That was handy way to validate the model.

From that we used that pointer to dig in the help in a different direction and found out how to do a implementation report on a requirements package.

Project | Documentation | Implementation Details.

and this is close enogh to what we are after.

Thanks again

There is also a default search (Ctrl+F) called "Find Orphans".

Ye-e-sss - The report shows elements that are not used on any diagram, and that generally (but not exclusively) means elements that have no connectors.

Ctrl+F displays the Model Search screen. In the Search field select Find Orphans from the drop-down list, and in the Search Term field type Requirement.

Click on the package or model to search, and click on the Run button.

Give it a try and see how close it is to what you want. If you have lots of unlinked Rquirements created on a diagram, the report might not help. If you have Requirements in the Project Browser that you add to a diagram in order to link them to each other or to a Use Case, the report could be very useful.

Best Regards, Roy
