Drag-n-drop a component into another diagram
« on: March 27, 2012, 01:30:06 am »
I am using EA 8.

In one of my component diagram I created a component and I have some child components under it.

I want to reuse this component in another component diagram, thus I drag-n-drop the parent component into the new diagram. I was expecting the parent one and all children would show up in the new diagram, but unfortunately only the parent one is visible.

How can I also show the children of this particular component in the new diagram?

I think the latest version offers a choice whether or not to include embedded objects.

In v8 I would suggest to select all elements you need on another diagram, and then do copy/paste

Why do you need to show the same information twice? I would have thought, and I expect EA did too, that having the parent on another drawing without its children would simplify the understanding of the model. If you must have one or more of the children then add them as required.
