help with sysML paramtric simulation

I'm having great difficulty getting the sysML parametric simulation to work.  I am trying to replicate the triangular prism system in http://eislab.gatech.edu/pubs/conferences/2007-incose-is-1-peak-primer/2007-incose-is-1-peak-primer.pdf

I don't seem to be able to build the parametric diagram in a way that lets me do the simulation.  (using Ultimate edition) I've gone through a few tutorials, but they seem to start with the model already built.
  
could anyone recommend a tutorial builds a basic sysML model step by step.

(or a video of the triangular prism example from the paper would be great too)
