EA 8 Upgrade
« on: December 14, 2012, 12:10:31 am »
Interited an EA installation, version 8 client, floating licenses on a key store service, SQL Server 2003 db back end.

I'd like to upgrade the clients to 9 or even 10 - will these clients be compatible with the existing SQL db or will I need to upgrade the schema somehow?  Also, theres probably a 2003 to 2008 SQL Server upgrade on the horizen, are there any EA considerations?

I've tried the online docs but haven't got a clear handle on this.  Any light you could shed would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

AFAIR there were no major DB changes since V6/7. So you should be save. There's one issue with Requirements in V10 you will find in the release notes.

There's an "upgrade" script for SQL server on the website.
IIRC that script tweaks the database a bit to perform a little bit better on SQL Server 2005/2008
