Link or Instance: how to set the option

In EA v6, I used to automatically create links when dragging items such as classes onto sequence diagrams. Now in v9.3 instances are created instead without the initial choice. How do I set to 'create a link' and not 'create an instance' for this or all objects?

Ctrl-drag element to diagram, choose link, and then select Options|Autosave selection as default.

I'm using EA ver 1006.

When dragging element onto sequence diagram there's no option to 'choose link' as per your instructions.

Pls advice how to set link instead of instance for the elements dragged onto sequence diagrams?

I got it working here (on 10.0.1006) for sequence diagrams. I had the same issue you have.

There does not seem to be any difference in behaviour between Ctrl-Drag and just Drag of element onto sequence diagram?

I'm also not sure where to find the 'Options/Autosave selection as default' setting?

I got it working here (on 10.0.1006) for sequence diagrams. I had the same issue you have.

You have to Ctrl-drag a element onto a different type of diagram (such as a class diagram) in order to get the dialog where you can set the default option.

Thx Geert,

I had to remove it from the initial class diagram, did the Ctrl-Drag to get the 'Paste as' menu. After setting the correct values, I could drag it to my sequence diagram. It created the link, not the instance!!
