Unknown artefact on diagram
« on: April 17, 2013, 08:21:15 pm »
On the attached pic you will find a small red arrow on top of an diagram object. We don't know, how we have achieved this thing and what it means.

Any hints?

Thanks

From the EA help:

"A bookmark is a visual clue that something is different about an element; it is represented by a small red triangle that displays above the element in the diagram.

You can assign any meaning to the bookmark as is appropriate to your model.

You can bookmark:
· Single elements manually, or
· All elements in a package automatically when they assume a defined status"

Bookmarks are toggles.  Set/clear with Shift+Spacebar  or Edit/Bookmark Selected.    See the help for automatic bookmarking.

no worries, a few years ago, shortly after it was introduced, you could find a question about this every week.

It's been a while now since I last saw one.

Actually, the bookmark feature had been around for years before that. As an interesting piece of trivia, what actually caused that massive influx of questions on it was very likely a bug when formatted notes and/or direct editing of names etc on diagrams were introduced that let the Ctrl+Space shortcut for adding a bookmark through when editing.

It's not something you'd generally notice yourself doing, but apparently lots of people do it.

In the Help index, there are the entries "Red    Triangle" and "Triangle   Red".

There are several other entries under "Red", such as "Red    Exclamation Mark", as well as "Blue    Exclamation Mark" (lock indicator icon in the Project Browser) and "Green     Circle" (for a Breakpoint).

We try to be blatant with the index entries!
