Upgrade from v8 to v10 with Oracle Repository
« on: May 22, 2013, 04:18:05 pm »
Hello,

I currently have EA v8.0 on my desktop and I'm using an Oracle 11g repository for my models.

We now have EA v10 available and I want to upgrade my desktop software.

Do I have to do anything to upgrade my Oracle repository?

If so where can I find out that information?

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you need to do anything on the database.
To be sure you can check http://www.sparxsystems.com/resources/corporate/index.html#sql_scripts
I see there's an update patch for Oracle, which might be useful. Anyway I think the update patch only improves the performance, and it not mandatory.

The 'patch' file is only for use on repositories created before February 2010, which is around the time EA 8 was released.  It sounds likely that your repository is already up-to-date.  There have been no further changes between EA 8 and EA 10.

As Geert said, the 'patch' was mainly focused on performance improvements and some minor corrections regarding datatypes.  This patch is optional, even if your repository was created pre-EA8.

If creating a new repository with the latest sql script available from the page linked earlier, do not execute the patch.  It is already integrated into the latest sql script.
