Importing BMPN 2.0 Model (in XML format)
« on: January 08, 2013, 11:59:10 pm »
I’m finding it a little difficult to understand how I can import a BPMN 2.0 Diagram in XML format created in another application. I need to generate (or re-create) the BPMN diagram from the imported BPMN XML for editing and to build upon.

I would be grateful if anyone could please advise or guide me in achieving this.

I am using an iPAD app called ‘Cubetto BPMN’ that can output a BPMN 2.0 diagram as:

•      Cubetto XML
•      XTHML
•      BPMN XML
•      Presentation as PNG

It would be extremely useful to do this as carrying an iPAD and generating quick draft BPMN in meetings  is very convenient with the iPAD for later transfer to SPARX EA for full development of a detailed BPMN.

Thanks
Tony

Did you ever find a solution for this?  I have the same basic issue of wanting to do a metadata interchange and I really don't want to have to write my own XMI transforms.

Hi,

There is a BPMN XML import option in Sparx. So assuming that the xml produced by your tool is bpmn 1 or 2 xml aligned you should be ok. Have you tried this ?

I'm aware of an export / publish for BPMN.  However, on neither the Project > Model Import / Export or the Extensions > Import and subsequent dialogs do I see a BPMN Import.    I've tried doing an XMI import with a BPMN package I exported from EA just to see if that would work.  It fails with an 'Unknown XMI Exporter or Version' error, which makes sense since the xml format is a <bpmn.../> and not an XMI

If I am missing the obvious, would you be so kind as to point out the navigation path or process to import BPMN?  Much appreciated.
