You should send also a feature request regarding visibility of the association since you have a use case where it's needed to actually see that element.

wrt the drag and drop issue, the response from Sparx is that it is a bug and:

"It appears the issue is related to EA's lazy loading feature.  If you
set the "Tools | Options | General | File Loading Strategy" option to
"Preload Entire Model" then the drag/drop appears to work as expected."

I guess setting this option isn't worth while since it will slow down the initial model load too much. YMMV
