How do I show a relationship to an element?
« on: August 30, 2013, 08:54:21 pm »
How do I show a relationship to an element on an instance of another element, using for example ShapeScripts?
I have one element,  “A”, traced to an instance of element “B”, “:B”. How can a visually show this relation in a regular, diagram containing element ":B".
I would like it to look something like a regular instance of a class with a small A in the right corner.
Does anyone have any tips on this?

Not sure about UML, but I know with SysML you are supposed to be able to show the element's context within the name as an option to showing the element within the structure compartment of the block.

A->:B
or
A[:B]
or
A.<role>:B

These represent the same thing, but I'm not sure if EA allows the third option. I know that second option is possible.

The leading colon IS the trace. You could also place class and instance on a diagram and draw an <<instance of>> relation between both. I wouldn't see why you would need that. Maybe you can elaborate on that?
