Win32 UI
« on: September 03, 2012, 11:52:10 pm »
Hi

I just played a bit with the new Win32 User Interface profile (available from EA 9.x) since it looks much better than the original UI design profile (with fairly old fashioned UI elements or too basic).
The main issue I have : I cannot change the elements or text's colour, font, etc.
for instance if I create a button and select blue as the background, the rendering remains the same.

Is there a workaround or will this be enhanced in the future?

thanks
Guillaume

Guillaume,

I did the same, played around with it to see if we could use that iso the standard GUI elements, but it looks like this is a "sales feature"; an unfinished feature that has been put in because it helps the sales people. But as far as I'm concerned there's still a lot of work to be done before it will really be useful in another context then a sales presentation.

I agree. I also noticed that the content within UI elements cannot be changed (or I can't figure it out) e.g. if you create a tab ctrl, it's not possible to rename tab1/tab2/tab3

I find UI diagrams useful sometimes, especially as EA lets me associate elements with requirements. But compared with powerful UI design tools (incl free ones), this feature needs a lot of improvements.

Since my previous post last year, I was wondering if Sparx intends to improve the Win32 UI modelling elements.

For instance I cannot set a colour for the text labels, nor can I change the font.

In a more general sense, we have been waiting for these features for diagrams for some years.
In other words, my guess is no.

I have found that changing the properties in the Win32 IS elements often has no effect.  For example, in the Tab Control properties if change "Vertical" to "True", according to the help text this should make the tabs appear at the side of the control instead of the top - but it has no effect whatsoever.

I am getting very frustrated with this!

Meredith - can you tell me where you found that reference in the Help? I can't see it.  Thanks.

Ah, when I said help I meant the text that shows at the bottom of the window when you click on the control in the toolbox.  Not the actual help :)
