Create Pckge ID# field/tag thats Not part of Name
« on: October 18, 2013, 08:02:40 am »
Is there a way to set-up a separate field or tag for Package ID#, that's not part of the name field, yet will display together? For example, in my name field I have "4.1.1 Financial Management."  However since the numbers can change frequently and I don't want to edit the number in the name field each time, it would be easier to have a separate number/ID field ("4.1.1") that could be maintained in separate places, but would still display next to (or above) the name ("4.1.1 Financial Mgt") in the diagram view. Is there a way to accomplish this?
Thanks!

You could place it in a tag and make it appear on the diagram with Feature Visibility.

Alias does not work as it ONLY shows the alias.

Actually, alias does work.

Go to Tools | Options | Diagram | Behavior. There's a group called 'Alias usage' select 'Alias and Name'.

Open the properties for any diagram and select 'Use Alias if Available'.

:-[ I had that in mind but did not find it again. Just the "Use Alias if available"...

OTOH  >:( (or at least  :() why are the global option not also available per diagram nearby the "Use Alias..."? I know the answer, but again, this is so to say sub-optimal
