Rational Software Architect Import??
« on: November 05, 2013, 10:26:10 am »
Hi all,

I would like to import models from Rational Software Architect into Sparx EA.
Has anyone done this successfully and can tell me all the options set on the Rational tool to create an XMI that Sparx EA can consume?

Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Stu Sands

You can do this via an emx file extension. Export from RSA into emx format and then import into Sparx. This may not be the ideal way but  it will work.

Hi - Has anyone done the reverse?

I want to know if you can export an EA BPMN model and then import the model into Rational's System Architect.

You probably should rather ask that on a RSA forum ;-)

There is an issue with the XMI supported in System Architect and that precludes importing using that means into SA from EA. We have developed a bridge btw SA and EA for bi-directional data movement and this might also help. If you send me a private msg in the forum we can discuss this and other possible ways.

We are business partners with Sparx and IBM and know both products very well, and including other Rational products. We work with customers regularly who use products from Sparx and IBM in their organizations.

Just as FYI - Rational Software Architect is known as RSA and Rational System Architect is known as SA. Yes confusing....we know and so does IBM!  ;D
