Share search definitions
« on: February 11, 2014, 02:33:18 pm »
Hi,
We're pretty keen on using the relationship matrix a bit more and I'm investigating ways to make it work better for us. I can get it to display what I want using saved model searches, is there a way to share those with others more easily than exporting to xml and importing on the other persons EA install?
Additionally is there a way to get relationship matrices to output in the HTML report? How bout RTF?
Thanks very much
Lee

Hi,

to share searches put them into a MDG. The MDG file you can distribute or you can put in on a central location (e.g. nework drive, http address).

In rtf templates there is a section to define the appearance of relationship matrixes. It's not perfect but it works.

With html I have no experiences.

In the Manage Searches window there is a little icon to export/import searches. You find that somewhere in the middle of the icon list.

So I've got a relationship matrix to output to rtf by dragging two packages onto a model document, but I really need it to populate using saved searches like I mentioned earlier. Is there any way to set the RTF relationship matrix object to populate off of two searches?

Hi Lee,

I accidentally tried it today. With non SQL Searches in EA 10 it works as expected. SQL searches are looking as they are not working. May be there is a trick I don't know.

You can try it by using the standard search 'simple' in both the source and the target.

In EA 11. also the SQL searches seems to work.

Relationship Matrix with or without overlay are a powerful feature to maintain traceability or something like a CRUD matrix.

Yip I can get a matrix to populate from searches in the EA client but when I'm outputting to RTF I can't see where to attach the parameters to the relationship matrix to say which searches to use
