EA11 Themes - how to edit ?
« on: March 06, 2014, 10:28:05 pm »
These Diagram Themes in EA11 really seem to make diagrams more readable: my BPMN process flows suddenly look much more interesting, and now I want to edit the default colours from the built-in Theme. The default 'EA11' theme seems to choose yellow for activities, green for Gateways etc, but where do I change and save these colours? I get that the built-in ones aren't editable, but when I save theirs with a new name,  it's not clear how to associate element types with fill colours.

If I'm not wrong, All except the "Enterprise Architect 11" theme allows only a single colour for elements, option to change this can be found at "Gradients And Background" page in Options.

The Enterprise Architect 11 theme seems like shape scripts for each element type, which I'm afraid cannot be modified.

So if I choose to use the EA11 built-in theme, I get lots of nice colours, but can't edit them?? Surely not. That's not friendly.
Also, I've notived that using the EA11 theme (or is it independent of theme, and an EA11 feature) my diagram elements have lost a lot of their square edges. So Component elements, for example, as well has being highly coloured, have round corners not square ones.
@Sparx: is this deliberate? Can I change this ?

EA 11 is in beta, may be you should raise a beta bug report?

"Tools > Options > Diagram > Appearance > Round edges for elements". Regarding the colours in the EA11 theme, they can't currently be edited; I don't know what the future plans are.

Thanks for the tip for rounded edges....
...but it would be really great to be able to edit a Theme: a hard-coded color choice isn't great. This auto-coloring Theme idea is a great one, and is a real step forward in the visual appeal of the EA user interface IMHO, so it would be great to build on this with an easy way to customise it. People feel distressingly strongly about colors!
