Sequence Diagrams Leave Gap

I sometimes remove "calls" between components on my sequence diagram which leaves extra room on the lifeline.  I try to grab the next call line below and shift it up, but it often doesnt' work.  In fact it often moves the call line further down increasign the gap.  Is there a workaround for this?  I am using version 10.0.1006
