Documenting architecture decisions/principles
« on: September 30, 2014, 03:33:34 pm »
Hi,

I am planning to use Sparx EA for creating and documenting Solution Architecture for our project. To start with I want to document the architectural decisions/principles. But I don't see any appropriate element for this.

Can someone please suggest me how to do this?

PS: I am trying to create SAD not Enterprise Architecture, hence I don't want to go for TOGAF plug-in. Also TOGAF plug-in seems to be purchased separately

You can use Requirement elements or create stereotyped classes for that purpose. Additionally you can give the stereotyped elements a special shape with shape script. Next step would be to create your own MDG.

You could maybe try the Archimate2 Motivation elements

We developed a profile for EA that you can download from here - an xml file to import:

We also have a slide deck on architecture decisions concepts in case you are interested in that:
