Microsoft Database upgrade component
« on: November 07, 2014, 01:55:36 am »
Hi there,

We are planning to migrate/upgrade our Microsoft SQL databases from 2008 to 2014 and are wondering if there is any database impact (e.g. are there any SQL scripts that Sparx recommends to maintain DB integrity of the EA databases)?  Or, can someone confirm/speculate that nothing more than the Microsoft tools are required for a successful upgrade.

Thanks in advance!
Don

Can just speculate: EA is not doing very much DB magic so chances are good that the transfer will work with no impact. OTOH it's a Mickeysoft product. Heaven knows what the guys in Redmond have implemented. If possible try a project transfer first.

I seriously doubt you will have any issues, unless you have custom views or anything like that. The tables are very straight forward.

We upgraded from 2008 to 2012 without any issues.
