Heading number - Font and size
« on: July 07, 2015, 09:39:45 pm »
Hello,

I use Style Template when I generate document in RTF. I have setup styles e.g. for Heading 1,2 and 3.
Text which has assigned one of defined Heading style is properly shown in generated RTF document (with defined font and size), but for some reason the Paragraph numbering (for the same line - marked also as Heading) is shown in different font and size .... :-( I dont know why...
In style template it has the same font and size as other text with the same Heading style. Proper style template is selected during document generation...

Has anybody any idea why it is so?

I am quite disapointed from this and few other things i am facing in EA :-(

Thanks in advance
Patrik

Hi Patrick,

Getting the style and numbering correctly is quite a challenge in EA.

Often I found that the fastest way to correct these kind of things is to start over completely.
So thrown away the style sheet you have now (or at least the style that is giving you trouble) and start over.

It probably has something to do with the list overrides that don't correspond, but I can't be sure.

Also make sure it's the style and not the template that is messing things up. Sometimes the templates seem to get confused and the styles sort-of leak into the next paragraph.

The only way to fix that (to my knowledge) is to delete the offending part and start over clean.

RTF templates is a tricky beast to tame, but rest assure, it can be done 8-)

Hi Geert,

thank you for your advices.

What I did was that I took our company style template and based on that I created new Style template in EA. This partly worked. Than I discovered  that when I do export EA template to RTF, I see somthing shown differently that in EA. And e.g. when I modify it in MS WORD, it corrects itself (e.g. i have to change the size of numbering in heading to see that it is stored under different font that it seems it is...).
Than, after import to EA it works..

It is tricky, there is a lot of fighting with EA... :-( Some "issues" are caused by my unfamiliarity with EA bus it seems there is also a lot of bugs...

Now I have different "issue" :-)

Geert,  do you know how to get Relationship Matrix to generated RTF? I have created "Matrix specification" entity on diagram, which works as a "button" which open relationships matrix. But unfortunately in RTF is shown only an icon of it, not matrix itself :-)

Any idea?

Thank a lot for your helps! (it seem that you substitute guys from EA in answering user questions)

Have a nice day
Patrik

Hi Patrick,

There is a way to put the relationship matrix in an RTF document, but it will only output the matrix as an image (and not a particularly nice one).
So although it is possible I would recommend to get the information you are after in a tabular format.
Using an SQL fragment you can tailor exactly which information you wan to see in the table.

Hi Geert,

what exactly do you mean by the way how to get the matrix as an image into RTF?
I know that I can "save as" Matrix, which makes an image, that I can manualy show e.g. in another diagram which I can bring in RTF. But this would mean to do it all time as something has changed... :-(

Is there some "more automatic" way how to get matrix into RTF? (it is ok that it is only picture).

In using SQL in EA I am unfortunately not familiar, but I am working on  it :-).

Have a nice day!

Check in the sections of your RTF template, there's a Relationship Matrix option there under package.

Thank you, it is there!
(with a little faithing again - for some reason on the template "model" must be marked, otherwise the matrix image is shown as a pictogram only... )
