EA integration with Jira?
« on: November 06, 2009, 03:39:28 am »
Hello,

We are currently evaluating EA Corporate Edition for a team of about 15 people. We have correctly configured EA version 7.5.849 to use a shared DBMS repository (Oracle 10g) and version control with CVS. We are testing at the same time the MDG Integration for Eclipse, and we are quite happy with the results so far.

We also use Jira from Atlassian as project management and change management system.

Question: Is there any way to integrate EA with Jira?

The idea is to be able to refer to a change request (issue) whenever doing a check-out / check-in to EA packages (more than retrieving issue reference in comments), and being able to trace in Jira the changes done to EA packages. Note that we are thinking on using  Fisheye for integration CVS and Jira.

Many thanks in advance for your feedback on this,

Manuel

Manuel,

If I understand your question, you are on the right track.

We use Subversion, EA, and JIRA (along with FishEye).  Whenever I update an EA model to resolve a JIRA issue, I cite the JIRA issue in the version control check-in comment, along with my description of the changes.  A minute later if I go to the JIRA issue I see a new comment for the issue with my check-in comments as well as all the information about which files I checked in to Subversion.  Quite beautiful, really!
