Request Module! - Template Designer(Document)
« on: September 08, 2004, 10:09:56 pm »
Many Customer & Large Project($$) People want a Template Designer (like a Rational SoDA, Together Template Designer).

We want using EA, but EA has not document template designer(rtf ..).

At Last, our BIG BOSS choose the Togehter Control Center 6.2(+Eclipse Version) & Telelogic Doors.

Using CASE tool, in mission critical & Big Project, Functionaluty is important better than cost (price).

Right, but a usefull designer is likely very expensive. For the time being you could use the automation interface to do the job. What comes to my mind is a download area with several skeletons to be used for that task (currently there is only one from Sparx).

I do not think so, thomaskilian.

Document template designer & Reporting Engine is a core function of UML CASE Tools.
It is not area of automation interface tasking. It is job of Sparx EA Team.

Borland Together Control Center & Rational XDE (Eclipse) has an open API (plug in), too. But there is no Document Designer in plug in sw list.

Together Open API

The Rational XDE Extensibility (RXE) API

EA is great tool, but an Architect Team (EA, BA, TA, and AA) wants a powerful Report Solution for there diagram and specifications.

G'day,

I wouldn't waste too much effort here, Thomas.  Sounds like BIG BOSS has already made the decision.

We're extremely satisfied/impressed with EA's  functionality  (including, as per EA help file index entry, "Creating Documents").  I can certainly appreciate how "projectgroup" would be frustrated in having to work with something other than EA.
Cheers and best regards.

Ah dear.

The managers of the construction company decided that all the problems they had with high rise construction - delays, price overruns etc would be solved if all the workers used the same set of tools - so they hired a consultant company to come up with a "standard toolbox environment".
The consultants used their "extensive" experience in high rise construction tooling coupled with intensive workshopping with the mangerial staff to come up with a common set of tools that would allow - in their opinion - any construction to proceed.
I just wish I was there the day they presented all the construction workers with their new hammer and chisel.

I understand where projectgroup is coming from.
Being from the Asian country where formality and military-like precision and consistence in such a small thing, at least to the desingers and developers, as the top and bottom margins of the project documentation carries significant implications...

Has anyone developed "post-processor" for the EA RTF documents?
