Association control
« on: December 01, 2004, 01:07:32 pm »
there must be better control over the association positioning.
If setting line style to the auto routing, there is no way to control line parts, so there is no way to paint such picture:

Use the Custom line style instead.

Then you can add and move line points to your hearts content.

The problem I see with using the custom line is that when you move one of the elements around, the points remain where they are.  I therefore have to move each point once again to make the association "organized" (or aesthetically pleasing, depending on your point of view).

Furthermore, if you accidently move the element on top of the point, the point then becomes part of the element, thereby following the element--inside the element!

Besides, very often in generalization relatioship superclass has many descendants (children) and I prefer to link all descendants into superclass using one point - one generalization triangle instead separate for each;

other tools as rational rose support this

I like manhattan line routing style :-D rose can to this also ;)

I think you're looking for "Tree Style Hierarchy";  look up that string in EA's help file index.
Cheers and best regards.
