extend target activation
« on: December 14, 2004, 07:05:25 am »
In EA Build 743, when editing properties of a message on a sequence diagram, there are three properties that can be turned on/off. These are:
- extend source activation,
- end source activation,
- end target activation.
There's no "extend target activation". Why?

If you can give a meaningful answer to what this should mean, Sparx might think it over  ;)

I just wanted to make a simple drawing to show that a server serves two requests simultanously.  Send me your address to [email protected] and I'll send you the pic.
I guess you will tell me that I violated the concept of sequence diagrams somehow, but when I aksed once at this forum why EA lets do different things that make absolutely no sense, I got the repsonse that EA is just a tool and it's only up to the user to use it wisely.

easy, easy!!!  :o , you can better model it using a Par combined fragment. Check Superstructure, page 410 and 411 (an example)

Andro,
I have had problems with this too, and together with Sparx support I reached the conclusion that it is not currently possible. They promised to think about a solution.

mchiuminatto,
The par fragment doesn't solve the problems that this situation causes with the focus rectangles.

I can't see how the diagram from the Superstucture could help me. Here's my problem. The first diagram looks OK:

And the second doesn't:

I produced the second diagram by moving up a single message, namely: the message Caller II -> Operator. As I said, I wanted to show that two services take place in paralell.

Andro.
