Locking Objects
« on: April 11, 2005, 01:07:07 pm »
There needs to be some indicator in the project view that shows the lock status of elements/diagrams/etc.  An indicator that shows what other users are working on in the same project would be useful as well.

This would not only make it easy to tell what other people are working on, but alsomake it easy to remember what objects you have locked (and need to unlock when you are done).

Thanks,
Rich

Hi,

while there is, in my opinion, much that could be improved when it comes to locking, both of your requirements are already implemented in EA. Check the menu Project > Security > Manage My Locks and Project > Security > View and Manage Locks.

Hope this helps!

Ah, thank you very much.  Not the handiest interface, but it will work.

No problem!

I would much like it if the Project View indicated which objects are locked and by whom... it would save a lot of time and hassle... this has been requested many times in the forum, perhaps one day.... :-)

Unfortunately, there is no Project -> Security option unless you are running the corporate version of EA.   ???

There is some indication in the professional version. I get a different symbol on the package if a package is checked into visual source safe.  But it would be nice if it were more obvious and provided more detail even in the professional version.  Afterall, this version does provide version control capabilities and this is a basic aspect of version control.  We should be able to have show those kinds of details.
