BPMN element improvements
« on: June 05, 2007, 11:16:20 am »
I'd like to suggest improving the toolbox and/or context menus for BPMN diagrams.  It's a little tedious to go set tagged values for events and activities to get the proper type.  It would be nice to either have additional items in the toolbox for common things or a context menu for different element (for instance, right click on an intermediate event and receive a Trigger >> Message; Timer; Error; Cancel; etc context menu.  Much nicer and more intuitive than tagged values, particularly for non-technical business process modelers.

Absolutely agree!

Have you sent this to Sparx directly as a feature request yet? If not, use the Support link at the top of the forum page, then the Feature Request link on the left side menu. Paste a link to this thread in your request.

David

[BTW, this is the right time to make this suggestion. Sparx is trying to finish version 1.4 of the BPMN add-in concurrently with the beta of EA 7.0. You might get this in under the wire.]

If it wasn't for this post I wouldn't even know how to get different event types (I even sent an support email asking where are message, timer, and other event types).

So definitely, a big yes to making it more simple (obvious), especially since BPMN users (modelers) are not technical users that understand concepts of tagged values and triggers
