Moving multiple exposed interfaces and ports

Hi all,
I'm not sure whether one should regard this to be a bug. When you have something like this:

and you need to slide the selected component (e.g. to the right) then the result is the following:

You need to drag each single exposed interface on the top manually. When you need to layout large diagrams this is very tedious.

I think the connected elements should slide together with the "main" element.

I agree Thomas,

Perhaps is isn't a bug, but it is certainly an omission. This kind of thing is pretty obvious when you think about it. 'Attached' entities are simple to identify, so EA should be able to pick them out and handle the coordinated movement.

One could make the case that this only affects complex models. I would not agree. The issue starts to become significant on anything larger than a trivial diagram. And isn't handling such instances why we adopt modeling tools such as EA in the first place?

True David, it's just that I currently have to fiddle around with really complex models. And this behavior is very anoying. I mean, all this [glb]multiple selection[/glb] is a major issue since a long time. I wouldn't know what to do without EA, but some nasty things always get me down :(

I hear you!

That was just my point. It takes very little for a model to move into the "complex" end of things. Almost anything worth using a modeling tool will quickly do so.

So, annoyances like this may be a pain for the tool builder to resolve, but that's nothing compared to the grief the user community experiences.

This is an excellent example of where UI improvement can be more important than extending the suite of product feature (even UI features).

Sigh...
