IDEA: "beam me up Scotty"

EA already has the arrows on the browser for reordering items on the browser.  With the very large, flat, models created by things like DB and XSD models, it would be REALLY handy to also have a "pop me up one level in the hierarchy" arrow and context menu item.

At present there's an awful lot of (slow) scrolling going on which is also fraught with danger in case I accidentally drop the item where I didn't intend.

Now you ask for this, after we've all spent a year of our lives scrolling?  ;)

Yes, absolutely add my vote.

Perhaps this could be extended to allow collapsing the currently open level of the Project Browser tree from a child element, without having to scroll up (fast or slow) to the parent.

David
No, you can't have it!

Alternatively/additionally the second navigator window as requested recently...

Something that might work in this area seems to be in the mix for version 7.1.

Naw, I just do a lot of reading while I'm scrolling the Project Browser.

Masochism only works when you actually enjoy it...

When I had to stop in mid-scroll because I needed to leave to catch the bus - I finally thought: this is absurd!

Get's my vote!

Also, perhaps the ability to select a target by a dialog.

When in the Project Browser, try pressing the left arrow on the keyboard twice.  The first press should move the focus to the parent and the second press should close the branch.

The left-arrow feature is now documented in the Help, in the Project Browser topic. It will be visible in the Help for Release 7.1.

Funny enough that's how most applications (even the Windows Exporer) work, so I guess many have already found that out. But it does not help beaming up elements.

Quite right Thomas, this neatly solves the 'tweak' I suggested.

However, the problem we are really discussing in this tread - being able to 'promote' an element up the tree - remains.

So, let's keep those votes coming!
