Silent Installation
« on: August 26, 2008, 06:34:07 am »
Hello everybody,
Although I've been using EA for more than 2 years ago, I'm new in this forum.
I hope you (you: forum writers and readers, or EA development team) can help me:

I need to install EA silently in several Windows XP desktops.
Does exists any kind of silent EA installer, or something alike? (with default values for every option)
Could this be done from a remote computer or from a console?

Thank you in advance,
Pablo Tortorella

Hi yourself Pablo,

[edit]Please see the post from Aaron below. There are some possibilities![/edit]

I really don't know if EA has something like this. I have not seen anything, nor have any of my clients with EA - of which there have been many - come up with anything like this.

The only thing I can think of that might shed light on the problem is this. I've noticed that after an installation to 'all accounts' that EA 7.0 (I think, but it might have been 6.5) required each user to input a key separately. This doesn't necessarily mean you need to do a hand's on installation, and Sparx might have changed the situation in the intervening time.

Not much to go on I'm afraid.

David

PS: I wonder if there is anything useful in the Floating edition...

No, you can't have it!

For more information on silent / remote installation, please see the EA Deployment white paper:

As far as running a silent install, try passing the /? argument to the installer.  It won't do a silent install, but it will tell you how to.
