Converting Cloud Server to EAP file
« on: September 20, 2016, 05:21:19 pm »
There is no way to convert a cloud server database to an EAP file. This would help distribute models - including to Sparx Support (I have a problem with my model but cannot send it to you guys!)

Alternatively, please include step-by-step instructions/tools for backing up a cloud server database

Actually, there is. You just need access to the database. However, there's no way to do a project transfer over a cloud connection. But you can always contact the administrator of the cloud-enabled project and ask them for an .EAP copy.

As for project transfers over cloud connections, I think Geert was asking about that as well. My guess is that implementing a project transfer over HTTP wouldn't be as straightforward as all that. In order to carry out the transfer table-by-table, which is what the project transfer function appears to do, you'd need a raw SQL connection between the EA client and the database -- which is exactly what the cloud service is designed not to have.

Yes, I've officially sent in a feature request, but please so so as well.
The more feature requests they receive the more weight the feature gets and the faster we will see it implemented.
