feature non-visibility as default
« on: September 01, 2010, 06:44:59 pm »
When I create a new feature in a given diagram, that feature is automatically considered visible in all other diagrams. That means I have to go to most of the other diagrams where the element is used to turn the visibility of the new feature off. This costs enormous amounts of time and concentration.  :-/

I would prefer to be able to create a new feature as non-visible everywhere except in the current diagram.  :)  :)  :)

You don't have to go to other diagrams to hide the connector in other diagrams.

On the connector context menu use the "Visibility" item to "Hide Connector in other diagrams"

I agree that being able to set on a diagram (and perhaps project basis) the default that new connectors are not to be added to other diagrams would be an excellent feature request
(could be considered a bug that diagrams are altered when not locked for edit).

I'm pretty certain I requested such a feature MANY years ago - and I believe we presented a suggested set of functionalities.

If you search it should still be here, then you can add you spin on the suggested solution.

Maybe Suppressing New Links On Class Diagrams 2003 Oct
more likely Connector - Delete Key options 2006 May
here Hide Connectors in other diagrams by default 2007 Jan
which lead me to
IDEA: Control of connector display 2006 Nov

And totally unrelated, but a good read

Thanks for doing the search...  Yes, indeed, the last one is the one I meant.

Also, thanks for the support on the Remove vs Delete vs Purge.

It does help when one's ruminations strike a chord with people...

Thanks all for replying but my request concerned features in general, not just connectors.  :-/ I want to be able to hide class attributes  :) and methods  :) by default in all other diagrams, not just connectors.
