Additional fields for project tasks & issues tabs

Is it possible to extend the list of fields in the project tasks & project issues tabs (systems tool bar) to include a response/outcome field. This will make it visually obvious when a task/issue has been "resolved".
Also can the tasks tab have a (due) date field as the issues tab does. Again this will make monitoring the tasks more visual.
