Unable to modify table in RTF document template

I have a fresh copy of a Jet_4 eap file, and have copied, and am now wanting to modify a built in template.
I've done this before some time ago, but now keep getting the message "This selection contains protected text."

In the diagram below I want to delete two columns.
I first tried deleting the columns, and got the message, so I then deleted the fields in the body of each column, but still get the same error.

This seems very buggy to me.
As usual rtf templates are proving frustrating to use.

I'd certainly appreciate any suggestions or work arounds.

It took me a couple of goes to get it to work, but then I selected the text and chose font protect I was then able to delete the text.

1) There is no indication for these two options whether they are set or not.


2) Is this changed functionality in the RTF editor, I used to be able to do things like this?

1. Both show status for me.
2. Until recently you couldn't turn off protected text, but protected text always existed.
3. The message could be clearer.  I'd ask if you searched the help, but I can't see it when I do.

No, those options are not documented. They were not mentioned in the original RTF Editor source documentation either. They should be described, so I will go through all the RTF Template editor menus and check that all options are covered.

Not for build 863 though. Sorry.

You know, I'm trying this again, customising the "(use case template)".
In fact I am trying simply to remove section 2 Application overview, and there is not a code or field in sight.
I selected the text, and chose Other | Protection lock.
It would not delete.

After some experimenting I discovered that there is absolutely no indication available as to whether a particular piece of text is "Protection lock"ed or not.

Then I discovered that once I had protection lock toggled correctly for the selected text I had to reselect the text again to do the delete, the original selection seemed to still think the text was protected.

I challenge you to make this easier to use.
