EA11 - Anything in the wishlist implemented?
« on: February 10, 2014, 11:44:38 pm »
The wishlist thread is here

http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1363946246

I was just wondering if anything that was asked for has been implemented.   Lots of changes/enhancements in the release notes, so it's not just a bugfix release, but have the users been listened to at all ?

One small thing that doesn't appear to have made it is making diagram filters diagram specific instead of being global  :-[

A lot of things travel from wish list N to N+1. Ask skiwi.

Yes but are wishlists N and N+1 exactly the same, or very close to being the same?  If so, then that's very depressing.

I can't tell by heart but there are quite a couple of topics since N being quite small. Only God knows which spark needs to become a star. I'm not talking about that guy with the long beard in heaven.

I asked for diagram themes about half a year ago.

In principle it doesn't go far enough to adjust the basic diagramming to compete with something stupid like BizAgi.

4 simple enhancements:

1. Rounded corners and connectors everywhere with auto routing
2. Connectors automatically snap to the middle of an edge of a component so that all connectors are neat with guide points.
3. Big Drop-shadows
4.

Comments on implementation:
- Its the right capability just not solving the problem.
- The default needs to be improved so that ease of use is improved on default installation.

Tim,

It feels like you were expecting a different problem to be solved by this than the one we were trying to solve.

This was providing a more pleasant, modern feel to our diagrams. But also for applying a consistent usage across large organizations. Including for generated documentation.

A subtle round edge can be achieved by increasing line thickness, and I'll pass on the request to add a size (or probably offset) for the shadow.

Things like always auto-routing of connectors are more to do with changing how you interact with the diagram and we are looking at improvements in this area. They just weren't ready to be included in the beta.

And finally, the list of built-in themes is certain to change before a final release of version 11. And it wouldn't surprise me if the default theme changed too. (Although I'm sure our existing theme would remain as an option.)
