Word hidden text
« on: April 11, 2016, 10:13:55 am »
Hi all, could someone try a little test for me.  In Microsoft Word have some text with the font effect setting "Hidden" checked.  Cut and paste the notes field of an element or package.

Does it actually paste?  Or does the cursor display at the end of a phantom something?

Using Office 2013, it looks to me like the hidden text doesn't make it to the clipboard.

However, when saved, the extra newline appears, viz

You can see similar odd behaviour when pasting other types of formatting into a notes field.
Here is what it looks like immediately after the paste

And here is what happens after it is saved

And interesting, I didn't know this, but if you enter ctrl-enter in the name field you get a means of entering a new line character and thus using multiple names for your entity name

I fell across this a couple of years ago, but decided it was too dangerous...

Yeah, what I was seeing was that the paste moved the cursor along as many characters as the hidden text and then it went back to the start of the line.  It seemed as if EA was saying nup I can't have this pasted but the text was actually in the clipboard.
