I'm on the MrMoneyMustache forums, and have noticed 2 bugs with "show replies to your posts".
The first I think you know about:
"Users that start a reply, then
DELETE before posting will see the thread in their 'show replies to your post' history".
Steps:1) Start a post to a message thread.
2) Cancel, or browser-back without actually posting a reply.
3) Wait until other updates (not by you) are made to the thread...
4) Check 'show replies to your posts'
RESULT: the thread the user did NOT REPLY to is shown in the "show replies to your posts" history.
The second defect is (I think) related:
"Users no longer see 'new threads' in their 'show replies to your posts' history after attempting to reply to a 0-reply thread that gets deleted before their reply". (forum administrators are most likely to experience this issue)
Steps:1) Start a reply to a post with "0" previous replies.
2) While in the 'edit', have the OP *delete* their post.
3) Attempt to REPLY (and see an error message)
4) Check 'show replies to your posts' history[/li][/list]
RESULT: only forum thread responses BEFORE step 2 will be shown in the 'show replies' history.
[You're welcome]
As a regular forum poster on the MrMoneyMustache forums, I noticed my 'replies' to more recent posts are not tracked in the 'show replies to your posts' history - only replies to posts I posted to MONTHS ago will display. Others have this issue, but have not been able to come to root-cause. I assumed you guys were working on this... but it's been over a year since I started experiencing this.
TODAY, I used web search to find a solution, and noticed the issue where users who begin a REPLY to a forum thread, and CANCEL WITHOUT POSTING the reply continue to see that message-thread in their 'show replies' history EVEN THOUGH THEY DID NOT MAKE AN UPDATE.
A
large Cartoon Light-Bulb went off over my head! (and my co-workers grumpily asked me to leave the room)
Last year, I was writing a REPLY to a post that had received "0" responses. I worked up a detailed response, explaining why no-one had replied to date, and addressing some of the issues the user was having. It took several hours to prepare the reply (job, life, etc. intervened).
BUT... when I went to POST the REPLY, the ORIGINAL MESSAGE had been DELETED by OP.
I saw an 'error message' on the update, saved the text and sent it to the OP via Private Message.
That's when (May 2015) I think the 'show replies to your posts' stopped working for me. Please investigate.
