Spell Check - how to decide what Elements to Check?

In the past, you could select what you wanted checked on the "Select Elements to Check" group of the Spell Check: dialog.

It's now disabled.

The spell checker is "hanging" (actually processing, but without any response n the UI) on checking the notes of tagged values - which we want to suppress.

How can we do it?
