Gap Analysis - Baseline and Target Packages
« on: October 14, 2016, 06:06:18 pm »
Hello,
I know this topic has been posted a while back , I'am trying to use Gap Analysis matrix between Baseline and Target packages . It works best when I have the elements in both baseline package and target package , however my intention is to use a library of components and use them in baseline and target diagrams (as link) . The intention to use a library is not to replicate the same description and notes I have put in each of the element.
Now EA doesn't help me with a setup like that . Can anyone point me to the right set of steps please or a documentation on how I go about Gap analysis in EA

Thought I'll clarify a bit more on this question . These are the steps I currently use to do a GAP analysis

1.   In the Model create a new view
2.   Baseline
a.   Add a new package for Baseline
b.   Add all components or elements for baseline under the baseline package. This includes both parent and child elements
c.   Use a Relationship matrix to setup the relationship between parent and child elements
3.   Target
a.   Add a new package for Target
b.   Add all components or elements for Target as *new elements* under the Target package. This includes both parent and child elements
c.   Use a Relationship matrix to setup the relationship between parent and child elements
4.   Gap Analysis
a.   Use the Gap analysis matrix and choose the baseline package for baseline and target package for target

My question is ,
Instead of creating new components each time (refer 2.b and 3.b above) can I not have a library where I create all these elements and refer to them in baseline with a diagram and Target with a diagram using only the elements that I need in each from the library “Package”.

I tried taking this path but got stuck when I was creating Relationship Matrix and apparently a Layered diagram from it . Happy to clarify more if you have questions .
