Document Generator: page footer isn't included in doc document
« on: January 20, 2017, 02:16:23 am »
Hi there!

I am building a document with several diferent document templates and I have defined a page footer (Page number / Page count) in all of them. Even so, the page footer is not included in the generated document. Everything else defined in the template is displayed correctly.

It am using Version 12.1.

Does anyone have an idea of what it might be?

Regards,
Marta

Marta,

You should only define a footer in the cover page (or in the table of contents template if you don't want a footer on the cover page)
Then make sure none of your other templates have headers or footers (that means starting a fresh template and copy the content over it, otherwise you'll have an empty header iso no header)

If you do it this way, the header and footer will be copied to the rest of the document.

You should only define a footer in the cover page (or in the table of contents template if you don't want a footer on the cover page)
If you are using a cover page and don't want a footer on that page, define an empty 'first page' footer.

Then make sure none of your other templates have headers or footers (that means starting a fresh template and copy the content over it, otherwise you'll have an empty header iso no header)
Version 13 has explicit options under Edit to delete a header or footer. I would hope that wouldn't leave an empty footer.

Darn, spent a few hours last months copying templates to new header/footer-less templates in order to get rid of those empty headers or footers.
That would have been so much easier if I knew about this delete feature.  :-[

Hi Geert and Simon,

thank for your answers!

Unfortunatelly I only have Version 12, so I had to make a clean copy without header or footer of every template. I made sure that only the cover page has a footer, but the footer is still not being generated. I didn't mention in the first post that I am using a VBScript to generate the document, could it be somehow the problem?

Best regards,
Marta
