MDG Development tutorial

I have developed a few simple MDG myself and have always had difficulties remember what to do and when, so I made myself a list of what to do and when.

Thanks for this post, it was easier to follow than the tutorial.  

One question, when I set a color on an element, it does not follow through to the xml file.  Are you setting the color with the toolbar at the top of the diagram?  Is there some other way to set the color, or use an attribute to set it?
