.EAP vs .EAPX
« on: January 26, 2019, 05:55:58 am »
Anyone knows if there is any advantage in storing a project in a EAPX file, instead of EAP?
Is it advisable to migrate models from EAP to EAPX?

Thanks in advance.

IIRC EAPX==Jet4 (what an expression). It had been explained here on the forum by some Sparxians.

EAP is basically MS Access 97(jet v3.5) and EAPX is MS Access 2003 (jet v4). You can look up the differences via a search on Google. If I recall correctly its faster, allows for bigger database and more concurrent users.

Most important difference: eapx (jet4) has full unicode support.

There is also a difference in the SQL syntax they accept. Jet4 is less picky in that regard.
