Synchronisation using MDG Link for DOORS
« on: July 05, 2012, 09:01:41 pm »
I'm using MDG Link to import requirements from Doors into EA. The import works fine but I am having a few issues with synchronisation.

When the items have been updated in DOORS I re-import and end up with duplicated requirements.

Does anyone know which field ( or option ) needs be imported ( or set ) to enable synchronisation?

I've trawled the user guides and the forum but to no avail.

Any help appreciated,

Neil

Are you using an EAP file, or a DBMS repository?  If DBMS, please specify what type.

We are using an Oracle DB for the repository.

Just tried using a Local EAP and synchronisation works perfectly ( regardless of which fields I map. )

Must be the driver.

We are linked via the "Oracle provider for OLE DB"
The oledb realease note state...
ORACLE PROVIDER FOR OLE DB (OraOLEDB) 11.2.0.2.0 Production

Is this where my problem lies?

Unfortunately there are known issues with MDG Link for DOORS regarding duplication under Oracle and PostgreSQL repositories.  Please email [email protected] for further assistance with this issue.

We've had the same problem.  We've implemented a very painful work around that involves capturing our oracle EA model in a .eap file.  We then sync the requirements and bring them back into the oracle EA model.  The whole process wastes the better part of a day.

Does anyone know if there is a way to backdoor the oracle database and sync the data with sql queries without the front end of EA realizing it?

Well, my book Inside EA would be a starting point. And definitely is possible to enter thru the back door. But it's not a walk in the sunshine. For that reason I wrote the book with intention to exit thru that back door. But if you are in need you may also enter...

We've had the same problem.
As I mentioned earlier to neil_albiston - please send an email to [email protected] regarding this known issue with synchronization between DOORS and Oracle.  We can provide a pre-release version of the DOORS add-in which contains a fix for this problem, allowing you to synchronize directly to your Oracle repository.

The updated plugin worked perfectly with the Oracle repository. I have removed all my temporary 'fix it' scripts.
A Big Thank You to sparx support.
