Why do my diagram links re-route when I change their colour via script?

Greetings all

I have written the script that changes the colour of my diagram links based on certain conditions.
However, a by product of this is (sometimes) the diagram links re-route which is super frustrating for my users.

Any clue as to WHY this happens and how to stop it?

Can you post the code that changes the color?
Maybe you inadvertently overwrite some style settings that determine the path?
