Extending existing class - tutorial ?
« on: May 06, 2021, 06:03:14 pm »
Hello,

I am looking for a tutorial/documentation on extending existing classes.  As one of our needs is to extend UML Component class with custom attributes, and define (where applicable) a LOV for some of those attributes.  I have found several articles about creating UML profiles, however, I was not able to find a consistent guide from start to end for creating an own class extending existing class, defining attributes and their (default) values, and then being able to use this class in models.   I suppose a meta-model needs to be created using such extended class but it is a bit unclear for the moment.

I would appreciate if anyone could point me out into a right direction.

Best regards
Marcin

I don't know if there's really a tutorial like the one you are looking for.

I found the info I needed starting here: https://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/15.2/modeling/introduction_2.html

That community resource has been moved to my site ages ago. It's now at http://liquit.biz/brain/enterprise.html
