Current date in shape scripts

Is there a way to access today's date from within a shape script?
It'd be nice to be able to draw a cross over things which contain a date tag whose value is in the past.

Hey Uffe,
Since you can only test for equality within the shapescript how could you tell it was in the past?  Since you'd have to use an add-in any way, qwerty's answer seems to be the way to go.

Oh crap, you're right. You can't test for less or greater than in shape script.
