v15.2 - How to get <AppliesTo> into Stereotype in MDG
« on: October 05, 2020, 06:11:43 pm »
In generating the MDG from our highly categorised metamodel, I'm noticed that the <AppliesTo/> clause is missing from the output.

I thought that was generated via the extension relationship back to the metaclass for which the stereotype was defined.  That is, if a DBSrvr was defined as a Class then the stereotype has an «extension» relationship to a Class «metaclass».  This is the case in the model, but it doesn't appear in the generated profile.

I am probably doing something wrong, but I don't know what.  It has a BIG impact on the MDG's capability!

Help!

TIA,
Paolo

Well, it should. But there are so many traps on the way that it's hard to tell which one you hit.

The one I hit is that I inadvertently removed the «metaclass» item from the profile diagram.  There are already nearly 200 stereotyped elements on the diagram.  Adding 200 more (for the «metaclass» items) would make it virtually illegible (especially since the «metaclass» items ALL have merely the name of the «metaclass»).  But, it seems we have to go that way...   ::)  I can understand stereotype (metatype) not on diagram, don't emit it, but having to add the «metaclass» item as well, since the definition of the metatype is incomplete without it!

Paolo, you can also generate profiles from a package.

That way you can create multiple diagrams that each show a small part of your 200 (!) stereotypes.

At present, I don't need another possibly failing technology to add...  Eventually, I probably will, but once I get a handle on what's going on.

It should have been a "doddle" to convert, but it's been a "right pain in the posterior".
