MDG Wizard: make checkboxes sortable
« on: October 21, 2020, 05:51:09 pm »
Hello,

In the MDG Technology Creation Wizard, there are several pages which list content of a certain type (scripts, searches, etc) along with checkboxes allowing you to select or deselect each one for inclusion in the technology. If you are using an existing MTS file, these checkboxes will reflect the selections from that file.

It would be useful to be able to sort these lists by selection status, so that if you have a large number of searches for instance, you can get a quick overview of what is (or will be) included in the technology.

Yes, indeed.

Even better would be if there would be an indication that some items, that are defined in the MTS are not available anymore.
Especially with searches that would be useful.

Now my procedure is to store the MDG files in Git, generate the MDG, and then check the diff in Git to make sure I'm not loosing anything.

I've found that some searches which are ticked (selected) during MDG generation are unticked the "next time around" also, although another is ALWAYS selected it's not emitted. I'm still researching this ("as time and resources permit") - as it may be a data problem in the repository.  But has anybody else seen this?

Not that I can recall. And searches aren't stored in the repository but in AppData (as are workspace layouts), so it may be that you're working from different hosts and your profile isn't synched, maybe?

EA storing technology source data in AppData makes it difficult to collaborate on technology development. You need to synchronize that data yourself, but I think perhaps that is better discussed in its own thread.

No no, you didn't. That was me going off on a collaboration tangent. :)
