Stereotyped package icons not rendered in HTML
« on: October 27, 2020, 07:53:44 am »
My MDG includes stereotyped packages. Each package stereotype includes some icon (for the project browser and for the toolboxes).

This works fine in EA, but not for HTML publication.

Problems are
- Package icon not shown
- Stereotype displayed (though I configured EA to not show the stereotypes)
These two problems never appears for elements and connectors

Did anyone meet that problem before? Is there a workaround?

Cheers,
Alain

Yes, Alain,

Support for Package icons is sporadic.  We, too, use package icons and MOST of the time, they are correctly visible.  However, from time to time, they(usually) temporarily "disappear" for a specific package.

If you search for my posts on that topic, you'll see some formal-ish responses from Sparx on their position on this.

Their position notwithstanding; over the past two major versions, I've observed a slight improvement in the overall handling of package icons - although this may be purely by chance (or the placebo effect).  ;)

Unfortunately, as Henrik (wivel) observed (in another post), HTML functionality is effectively "frozen" as of v7 or so; so the package icons haven't been supported (I think I we started using them in v13)

HTH,
Paolo

Thank you Paolo. Indeed I found that other discussion:
https://www.sparxsystems.com/forums/smf/index.php/topic,42631.msg253639.html#msg253639

For now I didn't meet any circumstance where a package icon disappears in 15.1.

Anyway, this is a very useful feature. And saying that the mere existence of a useful and used feature is a bug sounds weird to me.
Now, given the millions of (great) EA features, how could a single person remember everything that what was developed? :-)

Anyway, if a tool vendor implements a feature that people intuitively use (intuitively because this is coherent with other similar features), then the tool vendor might strive to make it work as users would intuitively/logically expect, isn't it?
