Navigate to Information Conveyed
« on: November 19, 2020, 04:56:47 pm »
More and more I am getting used to applying Information Flows between components rather than showing the used interfaces. (The interfaces are covered by some Protocol definition leading to a stereotype for Information Flow.)

But I got a severe navigation problem: on the diagram the Datatype specifying the Information Conveyed is shown with the Information Flow. That is perfect. But how to navigate to that Datatype - either in Project Browser or on any diagram?
I cannot find the name of the Information Conveyed in the properties of the Information Flow, nor can I even copy the name from the Information Conveyed dialog to the clipboard. The only way I found so far is: rember the name of the Datatype, open the Find dialog and enter the name by typing.

Really unusual for EA. Does anyone know of a faster more convenient way?

Hi Rolf,

Yes, it's annoying that you can't see the information item(s) in the information flow's properties. Surely it could fit in the Advanced tab?
Anyway, you can find information items in the browser from the diagram by right-clicking the connector and selecting Find Items Conveyed.

The EA Navigator has this feature.
You can navigate both ways (from information flow to the conveyed items and from the conveyed items to the informationflow)
