Doc generation: Reset to standard header numbering

Hi!
In the user manual there is a section about "Apply User-Defined Section Numbering". I would like to know how to do the opposite, that is, go from user-defined section numbering back to the standard numbering defined in the system stylesheet "Numbered Headings - Black".
My problem is that I am working with an EA project that has been around for quite a long time. A lot of the custom document templates have got various list overrides in them. Now my header numbering has gone wild. All sub-section headers start at 1, regardless of the number of the corresponding main section:
1. Main section A
1.1 Subsection
2. Main section B
1.1 Subsection

Is there a way to go through all the old sub-section templates and reset them back to standard header numbering?
