Applying profile
« on: June 25, 2021, 07:17:51 pm »
Is it possible to use UML profile without exporting it to XML and importing it into resources? I have a package with <<profile>> stereotype, some stereotypes inside. I want to use it without need of creating external file. I've tried to add a <<apply>> relationship between one of my package and the profile package but I can't see these stereotype in stereotype picking dialog. When I export with via publish and import as resources everything works fine.

I see. So what is a good way to test your profile before exportin it?

Well, exporting. You can write scripts to do some sanity checking (like I do for myself). But there's nothing EA offers. Honestly, EA even does not offer testing when you import a profile. It just fails to work. So it's guesswork and experience which help. A prayer and a curse help as good.

Use a DEV/TEST/PROD setup, like you would with any other development track.

The <<apply>> relationship doesn't do what you want it to - it is for documentation purposes only. Try ribbon > Specialize > Publish-Tech > Import Package as UML Profile. This will wrap up the profile as an MDG Technology with the same name and import in into your model, in one step.
